After months of speculation, hand-wringing and nervous waiting, comic book fans can rejoice because their brightest day has finally arrived: the first trailer for "Green Lantern" has been released online.
As if you didn't already know, "Green Lantern," which is based on one of the hottest character in the DC Comics universe, stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a cocky test pilot who is promoted to galactic cop when an alien crashes on Earth. You know what, let's skip the thesis and jump right to the question you want answered: is Sinestro in the trailer?
The answer: yes, yes he is, and not only that, it's pre-villain Sinestro, which means fans could get a nice look at the mentor/pupil relationship between the two -- which would certainly help set up a possible sequel nicely.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves. After all, there's plenty to talk about in this film without worrying about the next film. Also getting shout-outs in the new trailer: Oa, Abin Sur (of course) and, perhaps best of all, there's even a Kilowog sighting, something that will have hardcore fans jacked up.
And the suit? Well, the CGI doesn't look too bad at all. We're still not quite as sold on the jokey style Reynolds brings to all of his projects -- Hal Jordan, after all, is about the least humorous superhero in comics -- but some of the lines in the trailer work okay even if we're not immediately seeing a spark between Reynolds and Lively in their brief scenes together.
But enough yammering -- let's go right to the tape, courtesy of Apple Trailers.
