Little 'Red Riding Hood' Trailer Has Big Bad Thrills

When it comes to the high-profile new adaptation of the classic fairy tale "Red Riding Hood," it isn't just eyes, teeth and hands that are unusually big, it's expectations.

After all, the movie is being directed by "Twilight" auteur Catherine Hardwicke and stars Amanda Seyfried in a production overseen by Leonardo DiCaprio himself.

Well, guess what: the new trailer is out and by the looks of things, the competition is going to be crying wolf once they get a look at this instant viral hit.

As you can guess from the pedigree, this isn't exactly a faithful retelling of the story about a girl whose grandmother is the victim of identity theft. Instead we get a medieval werewolf tale that doubles as a love story, as Seyfriend's titular red-clad babe falls for a mysterious guy who looks a lot like a giant-size Frodo Baggins (actually Shiloh Fernandez, of course) just as the wolf begins eating her fellow villagers. Coincidence?

Add in a pounding industrial goth soundtrack, a creepy rival and a bunch of hunky eye-candy and you've got a recipe that would make the Brothers Grimm green with envy. So step aside, "Twilight," because as this clip from Apple Trailer shows, there's a new big bad wolf in town -- and it's about to take a bite out of the box office.
