There's no doubt about it: Olivia Wilde is hot in just about every sense of the word. Not only is she really attractive, she's also burning up Hollywood with roles in television ("House") and film ("Tron," "Cowboys and Aliens," etc.).
So it only makes perfect sense for her to be matched up with perhaps the hottest young male actor around, "The Social Network's" multi-talented Justin Timberlake. There's just one little thing about it you should know before you start shipping the Wilde-J.T. coupling:
She's playing his mom.
Okay, we know what you're thinking: WTF? Has the world gone mad? Is up now down, is the sun setting in the East, have we, in fact, finally lost it completely? Reasonable questions, but it's true: according to Entertainment Weekly, Wilde has signed on to play Timberlake's mommy in an untitled sci-fi thriller.
Untitled for now, anyway; the film, which follows the story of a dude in a world where people stop aging at 25 assuming they have enough money to afford it, was once called "I'm.mortal" until presumably someone actually read that title. Now it's back to being untitled, but whatever you call it, the film is still shaping up to be a blockbuster; in addition to J.T. and Wilde, director Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca") has lined up such fresh faces as Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy to play some of the film's perpetually young characters.
So just what will Wilde be doing in the movie other than setting the MILF standard absurdly high? We're not quite sure yet, but we do know that Timberlake plays a guy who takes a hostage when he's falsely accused of killing someone in order to steal his allotment of time, so we're breathing a sigh of relief on one point anyway: this isn't a future version of "Oedipus."
Whatever the case, you can count us in. Because any future with Timberlake and Wilde in it is a future we want to live in.
