There's just something about James Cameron and underwater adventures.
Oh sure, he's good with those sci-fi films too -- like "Avatar" and "Terminator" -- but when he puts on that diving equipment, that's when something special really happens, like in "Titanic," "The Abyss" and "Aliens of the Deep," for instance.
And now you can add "Sanctum" to the list, thanks to a trailer that may give the term "wet suit" an all-new meaning if you make the mistake of watching it at work.
But frankly, soiling yourself is a perfectly reasonable reaction to this first Apple Trailers clip from the high-octane thriller produced by Cameron using some of the 3-D technology he pioneered on those other deep sea flicks. The simple premise: a bunch of adventurers and explorers go deep under the Earth to explore a massive system of caves. But when a freak storm floods the cavern and suddenly turns it into an underground torrent, the trapped speulunkers have to swim to safety -- or die trying.
Add in some interpersonal intrigue and perhaps some literal backstabbing and you end up with a trailer from Cameron and director Alister Grierson that will have you on the edge of your seat.
Wet suit and all.
