It looks like "The Hobbit" is actually going to be a real movie and everything, not just a series of wishful rumors and heartbreaking delays as money people argue about money.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Peter Jackson has signed on to direct as well as write and produce the two-part project (YES!), and now sources close to The Wrap have confirmed that "The Hobbit" has been given the official greenlight by MGM and Warner Bros.
Filming is scheduled to commence in February in -- where else? -- New Zealand, where sets have already been built.
See? All it took was for Peter Jackson to finally realize that he's the only person that could direct this movie to start the domino effect of transforming it from fantasy to reality.
Next stop: Middle-earth!
