Call it the plight of the Bumblebee.
The yellow Chevy Camaro driven by Shia LaBeouf in the "Transformers" movies is no doubt feeling the sting after being banged up in an accident on Monday.
According to RadarOnline, the run-in happened Oct. 11 on the Washington, D.C., set of "Transformers 3" when the autobot, known as "Bumblebee" in the toy-inspired flicks, collided with a real-life police vehicle that was responding to an emergency call about a suspicious package.
The smash-up happened at Third Street and Maryland Avenue NW; Bumblebee's driver was unharmed, while the police officer was treated at a nearby hospital and later released.
This is the second major accident on the "Transformers 3" set, RadarOnline points out. In September, film extra Gabriela Cedillo suffered brain damage and partial paralysis after being hit in the head by a metal cable.
"Transformers 3," which is being shot in 3-D and also stars Josh Duhamel, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, and Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, is set to arrive in theaters July 1, 2011.
