The Weinstein Company revealed the first production photos today of Michelle Williams as iconic sex symbol Marilyn Monroe and all we can say is... wowee zowee.
The photo, which was included with a press release posted over on Coming Soon, shows the startling transformation Williams has undergone to capture the ethereal beauty of Monroe for the upcoming biopic "My Week with Marilyn."
Judging from this picture, it's safe to say that Williams has the look and the attitude down pat.
For those of you not in the know, here's the down low on the q.t.: based on a memoir by Colin Clark, "My Week with Marilyn" tells the story of Clark's meeting with Monroe on the set of the 1956 film "The Prince and the Showgirl" and the week they spent together in England trying to duck the high pressure lifestyle that dogged Monroe throughout her career.
And in addition to Williams as Monroe, the film stars Tony award winner Eddie Redmayne as well as Kenneth Branagh and Judi Dench as Monroe's "Prince and the Showgirl" co-stars Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Sybil Thorndike.
But as impressive as the cast is, all eyes are certain to be glued to Williams, especially after the world fixes their peepers on glam shots like this one. And Williams, of course, is no stranger to period pieces, having been nominated for an Academy Award for "Brokeback Mountain," so pulling off Monroe's signature '50s style should be no problem either.
Filming is expected to last for seven weeks, but unfortunately we're going to have to wait a lot longer to finally see the finished product; "My Week with Marilyn" isn't expected to premiere until late next year.
