Fake Stabbing at 'My Soul to Take' Premiere Shocks Absolutely No One

Well, that didn't work... though we're not quite sure what it was trying to accomplish in the first place.

We're not sure whose idea it was to stage a fake stabbing at the New York City premiere of "My Soul to Take," but they're probably showing up for work this morning with their tail between their legs.

JoBlo has posted a video showing the publicity stunt, which comes off as both embarrassing and, well, probably unnecessary on all counts.  Why would someone being stabbed at a red carpet premiere of a movie make someone want to pay $12 to see the movie the next day?  And are stabbings really "funny," whether they're staged or not?

Questions, questions. Anyway, you win some, you lose some, though we don't think this is going to hurt (or help) the box office take of "My Soul to Take" this weekend.  The 3-D Wes Craven horror film opens today.
