Chelsea Handler has scored a rare non-"As Herself" role.
Deadline reports that the host of E! Channel's "Chelsea Lately" has joined the cast of "This Means War," an action comedy directed by McG, who looks to be returning to more comfortable "Charlie's Angels" kind of territory after the stress test that was "Terminator Salvation."
"This Means War" follows the exploits of two CIA agents and best friends (Chris Pine and Tom Hardy) involved in an ever-escalating battle for the affections of a blonde hottie (Reese Witherspoon). Handler will be playing Witherspoon's best friend and confidante.
"This Means War" marks Chelsea Handler's second studio role, following the just-completed "Hop," which features Russell Brand providing the voice of the Easter Bunny's son.
Chelsea is currently on the bestseller list with her third book, "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang." She'll begin shooting "This Means War" later this month.
