Stephen Moyer is a wanted man.
Last Saturday, the "True Blood" vamp married co-star and real-life love Anna Paquin... and already he's the object of someone else's desires. According to ComicBookMovie.com, 20th Century Fox is sweet on Moyer to portray the villainous Dr. Victor Von Doom – Dr. Doom for short – in its reboot of the "Fantastic Four" franchise.
Perhaps you remember that Fox released two "Fantastic Four" movies in 2005 and 2007. Both were directed by Tim Story, both featured Michael Chiklis wearing an ill-advised orange rubber suit (and Jessica Alba wearing well-advised blue Spandex), both turned a tidy profit, and both were thoroughly drubbed by critics and fans.
Fox is aiming for an edgier tone with this iteration of the franchise, a decision already reflected in the rumored casting wish list.
While no official announcements have been made, Fox has reportedly reached out to Adrien Brody ("Predators") and Jonathan Rhys Myers (Showtime's "The Tudors") for the role of Rex Reed/Mr. Fantastic; Alive Eve ("She's Out of My League") and Kevin Pennington (CW's "90210") to suit up as siblings Sue and Johnny Storm (a.k.a. the Invisible Woman and the Human Torch, respectively); and either Bruce Willis or Kiefer Sutherland to voice the ginormous rocky beast known as the Thing, who will be all-CGI in this go-around.
Add Moyer to that list as Dr. Doom, the Fantastic Four's scientific genius nemesis, and you've got one heck of a stellar cast. Moyer has proved he can play tortured as heroic vampire Bill on "Blood," and portraying Doom would give him a welcome outlet for all that bottled up angst.
If these casting rumors could go ahead and morph into fact, that'd be just fantastic.
