Watch Big K.R.I.T. Pick Three Random Samples And Make A Beat From Scratch

Krizzle plays 'Rhythm Roulette'

When thinking about Big K.R.I.T., I often come back to a couplet from 2010's "See Me On Top," where he boasts about his vast and varied talents: "Yeah, I really do it all/ Produce and mix my own shit, outrap all of y'all."

In the latest episode of Mass Appeal's "Rhythm Roulette," Krizzle puts those triple threat skills on display, giving us a window into his behind-the-scenes creative process.

He heads to Atlanta’s Sweet Melissa Records where, while blindfolded, he randomly grabs vinyl from Linda Clifford, Seatrain and Culture Club. From there, he hits PatchWerk Studios, throws the records on, gets a feel for what parts will be of most use to him, and ends up sampling all three for a soulful, echoing K.R.I.T.-ian beat. He wasn't done there, though. Next, he laid down a verse and a hook.

I'm going to need the full version of this soon.
