The next time someone tells you not to dream an impossible dream, just tell them this: Snoop Dogg’s animal-themed Planet Snoop is now a real, legit web series. And you know who made that happen? WE did, Internet! WE made this happen! And now the first fruit of our labor is here and it’s even more majestic than you ever could’ve imagined.
The idea for Planet Snoop stemmed from Plizzanet Earth, a parody the Doggfather made for Jimmy Kimmel Live throughout 2015. Fans loved it so much that they fiercely backed a petition to have Snoop narrate his own season of Planet Earth, but we ended up with something even better: his own series where he marvels in wide-eyed amusement at the weirdness of the animal kingdom.
The first episode, which debuted on Snoop’s weed-themed YouTube channel Merry Jane on Thursday, features Snoop narrating a fight between a squirrel and a snake. Initially, he's all #TeamSnake, calling it an “easy win” for the serpent, but things soon take an unexpected turn.
“That squirrel belongs to a gang. That ain’t Alvin, Simon, or Theodore,” Snoop says with absolute conviction as the rodent starts gnawing on the snake “like a chicken wing.”
“If he can bust a nut, you know he can bust a snake head open,” Snoop observes. “I ain’t never seen no shit like this.” Neither have we, Snoop. Neither have we.
