Iggy Azalea's career has been mired in feuds -- not quite beefs, but public squabbles -- with fellow artists. There was her Snoop Dogg back-and-forth in late 2014, inspired by his posting of a meme. There was the infamous Q-Tip-taught hip-hop history lesson on Twitter. And there's Nicki Minaj.
The two haven't exactly gone at it, but there have been signs that they don't see eye-to-eye. Back in June 2014, while accepting her trophy for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards, Nicki made a statement that many believed was aimed at Iggy.
“What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj, is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it,” she said. Days later, though, she insisted that she truly meant "no shade" when she tacked the phrase onto the end of her speech.
Still, on an episode of Watch What Happens Live last night, almost two years after the awards show, Iggy was asked about the incident. "I have just as many people on my writing credits as she has on her," she said. "I know I write mine, and if she writes hers, I believe her, too."
In a separate interview, on Los Angeles' Real 92.3, Iggy addressed the state of their relationship.
“We don’t have a relationship," she said. "I don’t know her. I walked past her one time and said, ‘Congratulations.’ She was like, ‘Thank you. I appreciate it.’ It’s on film. You could see it.
"I don’t know. I think she makes cool music. Good for her. That’s it, really.”
Yup, you can see it. It's right here, as a matter of fact, and it's from backstage at MTV VMAs in August 2014.
In her chat with Real 92.3, Iggy also touches on her relationship with T.I., dealing with criticism, new music and more.
