Will Smith Is Bringing His Big Willie Style To The 2016 MTV Movie Awards

Smith is getting a huge honor at this year's MTV Movie Awards

Will Smith is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, and with his anticipated role in Suicide Squad on the way, it's safe to say that the actor has cemented his A-list status. So it's no surprise that this year's MTV Movie Awards will be doing it up Big Willie Style.

We're pumped to announce that Smith will be the recipient of the coveted Generation Award during the 2016 MTV Movie Awards -- and he's going to make it look very good.

Movie Awards co-host Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made the very special announcement on Instagram with a kickass video and heartfelt message. "When I first broke into Hollywood 15yrs ago, all I wanted to do was learn the business and put in the hard work to have a career like his," Johnson wrote. "It's a real privilege to honor you my friend."

Smith is a 17-time MTV Movie Awards nominee and five-time winner, including two Golden Popcorns for Best Male Performance (I Am Legend in 2008 and Ali in 2001). He also hosted the 1994 MTV Movie Awards when Menace II Society took home the night's top prize for Movie of the Year.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Johnson and Kevin Hart, airs on Sunday, April 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT from outdoors on the Warner Bros. backlot in Burbank, CA.
