Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn't even been officially released, and we're already looking toward the future. Wonder Woman makes her fierce debut as a supporting player in Batman V Superman, but she's more than ready for the spotlight in the first official photo from her 2017 solo adventure.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film will be an origin story for Princess Diana of Themyscira, and the photo below, exclusive to EW, gives us our first glimpse at Diana's mythological birthplace where women rule above all. Here, Gal Gadot's warrior princess stands alongside the women who raised her: her Amazonian mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and her two aunts -- General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope's lieutenant, Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli).
As you can probably see, Diana won't be the only Amazonian heroine we'll be rooting for in Wonder Woman because we are all about how hard Robin Wright is slaying this photo. She is the fire, the sun, and the gods. As for Wonder Woman, she's pretty fiery too.
"She is the only child they raised together," Jenkins told EW of the powerful trio who trained Diana in combat. "And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them."
Wonder Woman, due in theaters June 2017, will tell the story of Diana's evolution from Amazonian princess born from clay to badass superhero. An action-packed superhero flick directed by a woman and starring a cast full of badass women who don't take any shit from men? We 👏 Are 👏 Here 👏 For 👏 It 👏.
