What If American Crime Story Was Actually About Kanye West?

'Ye's on trial in a hilarious new parody from Funny or Die

Seemingly anything Kanye West does these days, from his unpredictable Twitter rants to his actual art, prompts debates about whether the dude’s a crazy genius or just plain crazy. In some sense, he’s been on trial in the public eye for years — and now, thanks to a hilarious new American Crime Story parody from Funny or Die, he’s on trial for real.

Kanye (a.k.a. the very man who’s been on ya “since O.J. had Isotoners“) fills O.J. Simpson’s shoes in the clever mashup, which splices together scenes from the FX show with archive footage from his most outrageous interviews. The People v. Kanye also highlights his ongoing beef with Taylor Swift and run-ins with the paparazzi, and puts extra emphasis on Robert Kardashian (David Schwimmer) for obvious reasons.

It all adds up to a preview for a fictional show that works eerily well — especially when O.J.’s suicide note is hysterically replaced with crayon-scrawled lyrics to the ego-driven Life Of Pablo cut “I Love Kanye.” The real People v. O.J. Simpson only has three episodes left… but maybe FX has found its new sequel?! Get on it, Ryan Murphy.
