Considering that the long-awaited big screen adaptation of "The Hobbit" is being done by Peter Jackson, who of course was responsible for the zeitgeist-defining "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, most fans think they have a pretty good idea what to expect from it. You know, a lot of majestic landscapes, some great CGI, a little action, maybe some preciously loveable hobbits. That sort of thing.
But as the new trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" proves, Jackson has a few tricks up his sleeve that may just yet shatter those expectations.
Which isn't to say that all the cool stuff you're expecting from "The Hobbit" is missing in this latest trailer. On the contrary, like the first teaser for "The Hobbit," this one features plenty of epic scenes and clips of Ian McKellen's Gandalf the Grey and Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins, as well as more dwarves than you can shake a stick at.
But there are also some cool new sequences, including bits with Cate Blanchett's Galadriel, Hugo Weaving's Elrond, Andy Serkis's Gollum and even (nerd alert!) what appears to be Gandalf's mysterious wizarding buddy, Radagast the Brown.
