In conjunction with TheWrap, NextMovie.com and MTV.com, Film.com is happy to announce the 12 finalists for inaugural edition of The Short List, the world's premiere online short film festival.
Featuring some of the most decorated festival favorites from around the world, the films of The Short List are competing in three categories: Animation, Fiction and Documentary. Viewers can watch the films for free and cast votes for their favorites on the official website for The Short List at any time between now and Sept. 4, when the winners will be announced during a special live event in Los Angeles.
In the animation category, the four finalists are: "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared," which won the Midnight Prize at the SXSW Film Festival; "Metro," which won Best Short at the Nantucket Film Festival; "Notes on Biology," which won Best Animated Short at the SXSW Film Festival; and "The Maker," which won Best Animated Short at the Newport Beach Film Festival and the Sydney Film Festival.
In the fiction category, the five finalists are: "200 Minutes," which won Best Ibero American Short at the Guadalajara International Film Festival; "Fishing Without Nets," which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival; "The Chair," which won Best Narrative Short at the LA Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival; "The Factory," which won Best Live Action Short at the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival; and "The Plain," which won Best Short Film at the Venice International Film Festival.
And in the documentary category, the three finalists are: "Aaron Burr, Part 2," which won the grand Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival; "A Brief History of John Baldessari," which won Best Documentary Short at the Deadcenter Festival; and "The Love Competition," which earned a Special Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival.
