Over the course of his half-century film career, Woody Allen has become famous almost as much for his muses as for his movies. Diane Keaton, Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz are just some of the stars who have inspired Allen to great cinematic heights.
And now, at last, Allen has finally found his muse for the new decade: Andrew "Dice" Clay.
On first glance, of course, you might think that either someone has gone legitimately nuts or else hell just froze over.
But while Deadline's report that Andrew Dice Clay has just joined the cast of Allen's next movie may be a bit of a surprise, it's not that out there. After all, Allen has a long tradition of employing other comedians in his films (see: Will Ferrell), plus Clay recently finished a semi-dramatic arc on HBO's "Entourage" that earned him some buzz.
And Clay isn't the only new name joining the cast; he's joined by fellow comedian Louis C.K. as well as veteran actor Peter Sarsgaard. Previously announced cast members include Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins.
Hey, when you've been working in the same business for over 50 years, sometimes you need to shake things up a bit.
And that's just what Andrew Dice Clay does best.
