Gary Oldman and Dominic Monaghan on For 'Monster Butler'

It's been a minute or two since Gary Oldman has really given the scenery a good chew, and Dominic Monaghan has been pretty busy rocking the Cannes scene with his upcoming movie "Lawless." Luckily, they've both found time on their busy dance cards for "Monster Butler," a dark indie about jewel thievery, murder, grifts, and fine china.

"Monster Butler" is based on the life and crimes of Roy Fontaine, née Archibald Hall, a con man who makes even Thomas from "Downton Abbey" look like a swell guy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oldman is on board to play Hall's buddy and business partner Wiggy (Wiggy!), who is described as "a taxidermist with anger issues." We're hoping this will bring back the full-on Gary Oldman of "Leon" and "True Romance" tooth-gnashing rather than the more respectable "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" Oldman.

Monaghan, on the other hand, will prove to be Hall's undoing. Hall met David Wright in prison, where the two became lovers; however, when they meet up on the outside, things go downhill fast.

Malcolm McDowell will play Archibald Hall, naturally. Director Douglas Rath made a short film with McDowell about Hall in 2010 also called "Monster Butler." Both "Butlers" are based on screenplays by Peter Bellwood, who scripted "Highlander" and "Highlander II: The Quickening."

Filming will begin this June in Scotland. Meanwhile, you can catch the regular old Gary Oldman in "The Dark Knight Rises" as Commissioner Gordon this summer.
