Even though there's only been four episodes shown so far, Showtime has picked up Homeland for a second season. The conspiracy series, which stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, drew in 4.4 million viewers for the premiere. Viewership has only increased since then, with this week's episode garnering the highest numbers yet. It remains to be seen if the show will continue with the present plot of Danes' character investigating the possible traitor-disguised-as-hero played by Lewis, or if the series would diverge into different storylines.
With so many stars best known for their feature film work turning to other mediums, it is quickly becoming apparent that the small screen still holds value for viewers. Whatever happens, it's been encouraging to see so many shows get full season or additional season orders, and one might wistfully imagine that the golden age of television is returning.
