Disney Channel star Demi Lovato has been the target of innuendo almost since she burst on the scene in 2008 with her appearance in Camp Rock. Now, the 18-year-old actress and singer has had to go public with the kinds of issues that are hard enough to deal with even for those who aren't public figures.
Lovato, who has been on tour with the Jonas Brothers, dropped off the tour and entered a treatment facility over the weekend for what have been termed "emotional and physical issues." TMZ reported that Lovato had recently had gotten into a fight with another woman who was part of the tour, and that this incident helped convince her that she needed help. She also abandoned her popular Twitter page over the weekend.
Her current problems have been hinted at for some time in gossip circles, despite her young age. Lovato has spoken before about having been bullied to such an extent that she had to be homeschooled during her middle school years. There have been rumors about her having an eating disorder. And paparazzi photos of Lovato in the past have seemed to show markings on her wrist, which led to whispers (denied by her publicists) that she had issues with "cutting," or self-mutilation.
Lovato had dated Joe Jonas in the past, and recent reports have linked him with a new girlfriend, Twilight star Ashley Greene. Having her now on a tour with the Jonases would seem to have been a bad idea, given what has now happened.
