Actress and comedian Niecy Nash received the fewest number of votes this week on Dancing With the Stars, and became the seventh contestant eliminated in Season Ten. Erin Andrews, Evan Lysacek, Chad Ochocinco (who was the other person in the bottom group), and Nicole Scherzinger remain.
Niecy came into the season without dancing experience, but had an enviable fan base due to her role as a panelist on The Insider, which had DWtS coverage as one of its staples even before she was tapped to appear. She is shorter and plumper than the average contestant, but tried to turn that seeming disadvantage into a plus, referring to her "jiggly parts" and not pretending she doesn't like to eat. Niecy made a much more believable Everywoman than Kate Gosselin, and outlasted both the reality star and pinup Pamela Anderson, both of whom were a much more significant part of the Season Ten publicity machine. She also charmed viewers with the way she turned partner Louis van Amstel into her bemused straight man.
As could have been expected, Niecy was in high spirits upon her elimination, telling Tom Bergeron she was looking forward to getting crunk again. As a new veteran of the show and with her continuing Insider forum, it seems likely she will join the regular cast of ex-contestants (Adam Carolla, Kenny Mayne) who return occasionally to add humorous commentary. Let's hope so, because by the bloated looks of Tuesday's show (five minutes of results and forty minutes of stuff no one cares about), DWtS can use the help.
