HALLMARK Presents: Scrooge

Scrooge (1935)

Director: Henry Edwards

Starring: Sir Seymour Hicks

Studio: Paramount Pictures

Genre: Drama, Holiday

This 1935 version of "A Christmas Carol" is considered to be one of the classic films made from the Charles Dickens story. It stars Sir Seymour Hicks as the Christmas-hating, Ebinezer Scrooge. Sir Hicks is brilliant in his role as the mean miser who discovers the true meaning of Christmas after spirits show him how badly he's mistreated others and what his fate will be unless he changes his ways. There are no high tech visual effects or Hollywood glitz in this old film- just good, old-fashioned storytelling.
