Movies This Weekend That Might Interest You
No way. It's all Oscars all the time around here this weekend. I do hope you'll tune in to my live Oscar blog. This year's theme: "How many drinks is too many drinks while writing about The Academy Awards?" Also, if you'd like to make fun of my Oscar Predictions I've posted my official picks. I'm shooting for 20 out of 24.
Press Releases of Note
The PR people have been working overboard this week. I'm like 14 hours behind The Twilight Saga: New Moon art being released -- meaning, given the speed at which teen girls communicate, I'm exactly 14 hours too late. Here it is anyway (one thing I can offer is that if you click on it, I've got the full size version at your disposal): src="http://i.realone.com/assets/rn/img/0/8/7/1/26241780.jpg" alt="The Twilight Saga: New Moon Logo" width="300" height="200" hspace="8"/>
A Terminator: Salvation viral site has been launched. Pretty sure people are going to see that one regardless. Speaking of, here's a viral Watchmen offer too, evidently the tie-in is that Nite Owl Dark Roast coffee.
Here in Seattle the Seattle International Film Fest is holding a 24-Hour Film Festival. I will be attending, and I'd love to see you there. The only rub? You've got to raise some serious moolah to get in the door.
New stills from the Fame reboot (click for larger sizes):

Sequel Rumor of the Day
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a Superman sequel! Peter over at /Film has it as Superman UNLEASHED. I certainly hope there is really overwrought symbolism in this one!
Quote of the Day
"We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to." -- W. Somerset Maugham
What I Watched Last Night Besides a Movie
The Office was a repeat. 30 Rock was a repeat. Luckily we had Top Chef on DVR, but we're getting near the day when we just cancel our cable altogether. Why not go the route of DVD and Netflix? It's cheaper, and decent original programming is becoming a rare commodity.
What I'm Reading Right Now
Rigged. So far, so good.
Deep Thought of the Day
If you really break the sentiment down, "so far, so good" actually means the opposite. You're only commenting on the distance you've come, which might not be so far. And things aren't really so much so good as they are acceptable. So far, so good would actually, at face value, mean you've come a long way and things are really great. But it actually means you're not quite certain but things are decent right now. Sheesh. No wonder people struggle to learn English.
