Anne Hathaway, Rachel Getting Married (mortal lock)

Kate Winslet, Revolutionary Road (mortal lock)

Cate Blanchett, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (probable)

Meryl Streep, Doubt (probable)

Angelina Jolie, Changeling (wildcard spot)

Press Releases of Note
The Reader, Kate Winslet's other Oscar shot just released a new trailer. It's on the official The Reader site.

The Karate Kid with Ralph MacchioSequel Rumor of the Day
They are going to remake Karate Kid?? I can't think of a worse idea than that off the top of my head. Why not just remake Labyrinth while you're at it? Surely my childhood has some film you've yet to mess up, right Hollywood? Unbelievable. I should also report they've got little Jaden Smith involved. Yeah, he was rock solid in Pursuit of Happyness, but I don't think that qualifies him to carry Ralph Macchio's black belt just yet. We'll keep you posted.

Today's Movie Stories on the Internets
Nicole Kidman's next role is as a transsexual. It looks as though Charlize Theron will also star. One of them will be nominated for an Academy Award in 2010. Rinse, repeat.

What I Watched Last Night Besides a Movie
I was ready for some football. A Monday night party. Good game, though I would have rather seen the 49ers win. I'm a sucker for the underdog.

Deep Thought of the Day
I read The Road on the plane ride back from L.A. Very solid book, should be an easy enough adaptation, especially with Viggo Mortensen in the lead role. So why was The Road delayed? I hope they aren't adding lasers into the script or anything. It's a beautiful book, but very sparse and bleak. Hollywood tends to try and jazz up stories like that, much to their detriment.

Videos For You
First off, the final scene from Karate Kid. Inspiring. GET 'EM A BODY BAG!! Then a little music. The video might make you dizzy ... but the song is good. It's "Satellite" by Guster.
