American Idol Will Premiere January 13

The countdown is on for the new season of American Idol.

USA Today is reporting that American Idol will return Jan. 13 with a typically bloated two-night, four-hour premiere. FOX has yet to make an official announcement.

This season, there's a new judge in town: Kara DioGuardi, who joins Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Should be interesting to see if Paula ups her game and stops drinking whatever's in that Coca-Cola cup to keep up with DioGuardi, who is reportedly a no-nonsense type of gal.

And of course, Ryan Seacrest will be back as host, because Seacrest will never go away.

Idol held auditions in San Francisco; Louisville, Ky.; Phoenix; Salt Lake City; Kansas City; Jacksonville; East Rutherford, N.J.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Show dates for particular audition cities have not been announced.
