One TV show and quite a few thrillers dot the DVD landscape this Tuesday. But only two titles get the coveted "You gotta see this" rating, and they didn't even have to bribe me to get it.
This got rave reviews from everyone I place trust in. Don't believe me? Just read some of them. I'd also like to reward this one with some DVD cash because of it's disappointing $80m worldwide haul at the box office back in March.
2. The Bourne Identity (HD DVD)
I know, I know, you don't have an HD DVD player. What I'm recommending is that you force the friend who does have it to let you come over. You know, the billionaire one, the guy who made his fortune in aluminum siding or by placing tiny little ads in newspapers across America.
3. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
I know Ebert loved it, and he and I are like blood brothers, but I don't have any interest in something with the subtitle of "The Story of a Murderer." I don't oppose cinematic murder, I just don't want the whole story given away by the title. Plus I'm allergic to perfume. Man, even I feel dirty about that joke, and that's really saying something.
4. The Number 23
This was a very poor movie in execution because it wasn't a plausible plot. The idea of an OCD number lording over someone's life is interesting, but the movie made Jim Carry seem like far too much of a loon to take seriously.
5. Weeds Season 2
This series has some extremely devoted fans but I'm not one of them. I would like to know why the MySpace page has the show as female, and 38 years old. It can't possibly have been on that long and unlike ships TV shows aren't called "she." I guess that little tidbit will have to remain a mystery as Weeds floats out of my consciousness for all eternity.
That's all for now. See you next Tuesday!
