Ever since its grand opening in 2010, Universal’s Wizarding World Of Harry Potter in Orlando has been a magical mecca for Potterheads to temporarily ditch their Muggledom. Its real-life renderings of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are basically perfect, but now the park is considering a new slate of immersive experiences that will probably send fans into absolute oblivion. Namely, by throwing a Yule Ball. An actual, real-life Yule Ball.
According to Orlando Informer, a survey was recently sent out to guests to gauge their interest for possible holiday events. The Harry Potter-specific menu of ideas included a nighttime show at Hogwarts Castle using 3D projection and lights, a holiday party in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, and a “Yule Ball and Great Dance Hall Dinner.” The latter option would be a special ticketed event during which “guests wear dress robes and dine/dance at a festive holiday Yule Ball with themed music, dancing, food and beverages.” UMM, YES PLEASE.
Nothing’s set in (sorcerer’s) stone yet, but we’d recommend kicking off your search for the perfect robe (as well as your own Viktor Krum or Cho Chang) sooner rather than later -- this event will surely be in high, high demand.
