Earlier this week, Iggy Azalea opened up about her turbulent and scandal-ridden 2015, saying she wishes she could “Men in Black memory-erase” her year. But if you thought that negativity would translate into her new music, you couldn’t be more mistaken. Rave-ready Iggy is back, and she sounds more fired up than ever.
On Thursday, the Aussie rapper shared two vids that show her jamming to her new music in the recording studio. As multicolored lights flash around her, Iggy dances and lip syncs the words -- in the first clip, she can be heard singing “I got that boom boom” over a clubby beat. (Before you ask, no, it doesn’t sound like a cover of Britney Spears’ “Boom Boom.”)
The second clip is captioned “no time for the,” and also sounds like a certified banger with a heavy beat. It also features a mysterious female voice that Iggy later revealed isn’t “anyone publicly known.” She further shot down fans’ guesses that it was Charli XCX or Cher Lloyd, tweeting, “its just a demo vocal… i might not even keep those words. its still a work in progress.”
Iggy previously revealed that her new track “Team” is set to be released on March 21, and will serve as the first official single from her forthcoming album Digital Distortion.
