Out of all the creative contributions Kanye West has given the world, one of the best has to be his utterly insane trove of tweets. ‘Ye’s Twitter account is a thing of majesty and madness; his own little dark twisted fantasy that never fails to entertain and outrage the masses (and inspire them to appreciate Tron: Legacy, damnit).
So what better than Kanye’s tweets to inspire dramatic readings from celebrities on the biggest night in Hollywood? Before Vanity Fair’s annual Oscars party last Sunday, Tyler Oakley asked stars on the red carpet to recite some of ‘Ye’s most iconic tweets (for example: “You may be talented, but you’re not Kanye West” and “I’m not even going to lie to you, I love me so much right now”).
Real-life Oscar winners Hilary Swank and Whoopi Goldberg brought plenty of drama to their interpretations, while comedians Mindy Kaling, Conan O’Brien and James Corden gave it their best. Kate Hudson and Emily Ratajkowski were way into it, and J.J. Abrams was nervous about the lack of directorial oversight, but came through with an award-worthy performance in the end. Bravo to all.
