The Bitch Is Back: Sarah Michelle Gellar Signs On To Cruel Intentions TV Show

Say hello (again) to the 'Marcia Fucking Brady of the Upper East Side.'

She's baaaack! Sarah Michelle Gellar announced that she's officially signed on to reprise her role as Manchester Prep's H.B.I.C. Kathryn Merteuil for NBC's television reboot of her 1999 classic Cruel Intentions.

In case you need a refresher, Kathryn -- the self-proclaimed "Marcia fucking Brady of the Upper East Side" -- was a vindictive, two-faced, cocaine-sniffing manipulator who seduced her stepbrother Sebastian.

SMG took to Instagram on February 25 to confirm the exciting news, sharing a #TBT photo of herself back in the late '90s when she had first signed on to play the manipulative, conniving villainess in Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's dark love story. Gellar paired the throwback pic with one taken recently with director Roger Kumble and executive producer Neal Moritz, who are both involved in the NBC reboot.

Picking up over 15 years after the end of the original movie, the TV series will follow Kathryn as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Witherspoon). Upon discovering his father's seedy legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power, and corruption he never could have imagined.

NBC announced back in October 2015 that they had picked up a pilot for a continuation of the original film's storyline. The pilot was written by Kumble and the creators of Cruel Intentions: The Musical, Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin.

No word yet on whether Kathryn will try and seduce young Bash, but that doesn't seem out of the question. And does she still keep a diary? Does she still wear that cross-shaped cocaine vessel around her neck?! The people need to know.

We guess we'll just listen to "Bitter Sweet Symphony" until we get some answers.
