On her own, JoJo is an astoundingly strong performer whose powerhouse voice and personal lyrics have made her “comeback” a blast to watch. But it turns out, adding dozens of fifth-graders to the equation only makes her music more irresistible.
The 25-year-old singer recently visited Public School 22 in Staten Island, where she and the elementary school chorus filmed an impassioned rendition of “Say Love.” JoJo’s original version is emotional enough (see the heartbreaking vid for more on that), but it reaches soaring new heights when her talented young collaborators chime in with their impressive harmonies. You’ll probably get chills; just warning you now.
“This was amazing,” JoJo gushed after the performance. “I wish they were on the road with me. Why can’t we get them all passports and why can’t we travel the world together?”
That’s an inspired idea, but the PS22 chorus members might not have time — they’re quite the in-demand performers, having performed with Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Fifth Harmony, and more huge stars in the past. And while their latest collab with JoJo might rank as one of their best, there’s surely more amazing ones to come.
