Let T-Pain’s ‘Officially Yours’ Video Remind You Love Doesn’t Always Suck

No denying it: the dude can SING.

Just in time for the most love-centric celebration of the year, T-Pain has released a new video that’ll have even the most irate V-Day hater feeling the love.

On “Officially Yours,” T-Pain continues his recent habit of ditching tech-y gimmicks and showcasing his soulful vocals against a ‘50s doo-wop beat. The track’s single artwork features a photo of him with his wife Amber, and its accompanying lyric video continues the love-celebrating theme by using fan-submitted wedding footage “to create the ultimate love story.” You know how cute it is when you see a groom get teary-eyed at the first sight of his soon-to-be-bride? Yeah, there’s plenty of that adorableness here.

T-Pain debuted “Officially Yours” at an NPR Front Row Concert in November, which fell on the one-year anniversary of his now-infamous Tiny Desk Concert. The latter performance remains the long-running NPR series’ most popular installment to date, mostly because it shocked the hell out of people who hadn’t heard an Auto-Tune-less T-Pain before.

“I don’t think people knew,” T-Pain told Esquire this week. “People had already counted me out as a singer. I was like, what? Why didn’t people suspect that I had a wonderful voice? They thought it was all technology. I wish we did have a machine that made songs like I could do, where you just hit a button and have songs get made. But that’s not what’s happening.”

Luckily, it sounds like the crooner has plenty more surprises in store -- his upcoming album Stoicville: The Phoenix is due out this year.

“There’s definitely more music coming. I’ve been holding off to make sure I have the ideal situation for myself and my family,” he said. “But it’s gonna go from a trickle to a flood.”
