This Is What The Grammys Red Carpet Looked Like 20 Years Ago

More crushed velvet than you remember.

The Grammys are fast approaching which means all our faves will be hitting the red carpet in their Sunday Monday best. In order to to mentally prepare for music's biggest night, we're taking a look back at what the red carpet looked like 20 years ago.

Though some things are similar (we see you, Celine Dion's crop top), some things are definitely not (lookin' at you, Lisa Kudrow's suede blazer). Behold the 1996 fashion in all its glory, below.

In case you forgot what eyebrows looked like before Cara Delevingne, this photo should serve as a good reminder.

I never pictured Celine Dion as the crop top type, but in 1996 she totally was.

Sure, those suits are something to marvel at, but, um, please direct your attention to those see-through bags.

Years before Shania Twain wore head-to-toe cheetah print in her "That Don't Impress Me Much" video, Mary J. Blige wore a very similar outfit to the Grammys.

Speaking of Shania Twain, she was there too, wearing a totally sheer dress.

Lisa Kudrow and Chris Issak must've gotten invites with different dress codes listed because, uh, I don't know how else to explain this pairing.

These days, you don't often see leather blazers on the Grammys red carpet. 1996 was a different time, y'all.
