Taylor Swift, The Weeknd Lead iHeartRadio Music Awards Nominations

Justin Bieber, Drake, and Adele also earned multiple noms.

While most of the music world is hyper-focused on the Grammys this week, iHeartRadio has edged into the conversation by announcing its nominations for the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Taylor Swift leads the pack with eight nominations, followed by The Weeknd, who boasts seven. The two artists will both compete for Song of the Year ("Blank Space," "Can't Feel My Face") and the inaugural Album of the Year prize (1989, Beauty Behind the Madness), which also includes Adele’s 25, Ed Sheeran’s X, and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour. Strangely enough, those latter two albums were released way back in summer 2014… but I guess it’s better late than never to recognize them?

The third annual ceremony now includes 31 categories, up from just 10 last year. Among the new prizes up for grabs are Best Cover Song, Best Song from a Movie, and Most Meme-Able Moment. There are also several sure-to-be-competitive fan-voted categories, including Best Lyrics, Best Collaboration, and Best Fan Army.

Justin Bieber and Meghan Trainor have been tapped as performers, but it’s unclear whether either of them will be able to top Rihanna’s epic “BBHMM” throwdown from last year. We’ll find out when the show airs live from Los Angeles on April 3.
