When Beyoncé released her surprise new track “Formation” on Friday (February 6), she gave Red Lobster a hilariously unexpected shout-out: “When he fuck me good, I take his ass to Red Lobster,” she sings in one of the song’s late verses.
Now, the seafood restaurant chain is reaping the benefits of Bey’s glowing endorsement.
CNN reports that Red Lobster sales shot up by 33 percent over the previous year shortly after “Formation” dropped. The chain had its own social media moment too, trending on Twitter for the first time in history and making awkward quips about “Cheddar Bey Biscuits.” Turns out a line in a Beyoncé song is just about the best free advertising you can get.
But hey -- if it’s good enough for Bey, it’s good enough for America. We can only hope that most of those sales came from extra satisfied couples.
