After co-starring in last year’s raunchy comedy “Dirty Grandpa,” Zac Efron and Aubrey Plaza have re-teamed for yet another big-screen tale of reckless abandon (except this time, there’s no scene involving Robert DeNiro masturbating… whew).
In “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” out July 8, Efron and “Pitch Perfect” star Adam Devine star as brothers tasked with finding dates for their sister’s destination nuptials. For some crazy reason, they take their search to “The Wendy Williams Show” and put the call out for “nice” girls — what could possibly go wrong?!
Enter Plaza and Anna Kendrick, who tone down their wildness long enough to score a free trip to Hawaii. But once they’re there, all hell breaks loose and they completely out-party the bros, leaving poor Efron in snotty tears.
Right before the trailer premiered, Kendrick, Efron and Devine appeared on James Corden’s post-Super Bowl episode of “The Late Late Show,” where the foursome recreated scenes from classic sports movies.
Highlights from the bit include Corden swallowing raw egg a la Rocky and wearing the whipped cream bra from “Varsity Blues,” as well as the whole gang busting out cheer moves from “Bring It On.” But the real MVP award surely goes to Efron, who made our “High School Musical”-loving hearts explode with a riled-up Wildcats shoutout.
Awww... ten years later, he still has his head in the game.
