At this point, it's common knowledge that Carly Rae Jepsen is the queen of EMOTIONs, which is likely why "Grease: Live" producers cast her as Frenchy in the performance that aired last night (Jan. 31).
And because CRJ's saccharine pipes deserve center stage, songwriters Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey penned an original tune for the live show called "All I Need is an Angel," which she sang solo onstage, pink hair and all, immediately before "Beauty School Dropout."
Shortly before Carly Rae sang it, the original film-version Frenchy -- actress Didi Conn -- appeared in a scene with her as a waitress. Behind the scenes, Conn gave CRJ a few "Grease"-centric gifts, including her OG pink shirt and a heart locked with "'We'll always be together!' 1-31-16" inscribed on it. Passing the torch? Nah. Passing the blouse (and the locket, and the hand-written note) is more like it.
