9 Magazine Covers That Will Transport You To The Early 2000s
We're not even a full month into 2016, but it's become very apparent we're about to experience a full-blown 2000s renaissance. Between Nicki Minaj resurrecting two-tone hair and an upcoming sitcom about Juicy Couture, we are fully expecting to relive the early aughts (and that's a beautiful thing).
One trend we haven't seen much of yet -- but would definitely like to -- is unexpected combinations of stars covering teen magazines. It's normal to see Gigi and Bella Hadid share a cover together, but seeing Gigi and, say, Ariana Grande together would be much more exciting.
Here are nine covers from the late '90s and early '00s that probably made lots of sense back then, but in 2016, are just plain hilarious.
Mark McGrath and Aaliyah
Mark McGrath and Aaliyah were both on Teen People's 2001 Sexy List, so they covered the issue together. Pulling off matching leather belts isn't easy, but, you know, it's just a skill you pick up when you're sexy.
Avril Lavigne and Usher
In 2004, Usher carried Avril Lavigne on his back for Teen Vogue. Beyond both releasing albums in 2004 and being "style superstars," these two have, like, no connection.
Eve, Justin Timberlake, and Mandy Moore
Remember when Justin Timberlake's hair looked like this??? Bye.
Adam Brody and Alexis Bledel
Adam Brody and Alexis Bledel, who starred together in "Gilmore Girls," covered this 2004 issue of Teen Vogue. This cover, however, was released after Brody had moved onto "The O.C." They still have the same initials and beautiful dark hair, though.
Sisqo, Pink, and JC Chasez
Choosing JC Chasez over Justin Timberlake for a major magazine cover is an unexpected move. Featuring him alongside Sisqo and Pink?? Never (ever!!!) saw that one coming.
Scarlett Johansson and Topher Grace
Remember when Scarlett Johansson and Topher Grace starred together in 2004's "In Good Company"? Still, Scarlett probably could've carried this one on her own.
Elisha Cuthbert and Chad Michael Murray
Is there anything on Earth more 2005 than this photo? No.
Vitamin C, Beyonce, and Pink
Isn't it crazy to think there was a time when Beyonce shared a magazine cover with the likes of Vitamin C? 2000 was a crazy time, y'all.
Nelly, Kevin Richardson, Shaggy, Enrique Iglesias, and Nick Lachey
There are no words.
