Alleged Armed Attack On 18-Year-Old Woman Took Place On Thursday

New York police said two teens surrendered and two others were arrested on Sunday in connection with the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman on a Brooklyn playground that Mayor Bill de Blasio called a "horrific attack." Charges are pending for a 14 year-old boy, a 17-year-old and two 15 year-olds, with a fifth suspect still at large. Police said the woman was attacked on Thursday night as she walked through Osborn Playground in Brooklyn, with one suspect pointing a gun at her father and ordering him to leave. When the father returned with two officers, the teens fled.

"I am disgusted and deeply saddened by the horrific attack," de Blasio said. "Every New Yorker in every neighborhood deserves to feel safe and protected, and we will not stop until the perpetrators of this disturbing attack are held accountable for their actions."

Trial Of Freddie Gray Van Driver Begins

The trial of the man who was behind the wheel for Freddie Gray's entire 45-minute trip to a Baltimore jail, police van driver Caesar Goodson, begins Monday (Jan. 11). It represents the first opportunity we will have to hear Goodson describe what happened in the van, which carried a handcuffed and shackled (but not buckled) Gray to six different places during what prosecutors have called a "rough ride" that resulted in a deadly spinal injury. Goodson is facing charges of second-degree murder, which could land him in prison for up to 30 years. His trial comes after a previous jury could not reach a verdict in the case of fellow officer William Porter.

White Supremacist Group Stumps For Trump; Hillary Gets Key Endorsement

It's a tale of two key, but very different endorsements -- Donald Trump's nod from the white supremacist group that was cited as an inspiration by Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof and Hillary Clinton's nod from Planned Parenthood.

"I urge you to vote for Donald Trump because he is the one candidate who points out that we should accept immigrants who are good for America," Jared Taylor, the leader of the white supremacist American National Super Pac says in a robocall message to Iowa voters sent out over the weekend. "We don’t need Muslims. We need smart, well-educated white people who will assimilate to our culture. Vote Trump." Trump, who is polling neck-and-neck with Sen. Ted Cruz in Iowa at the moment, has not responded to the endorsement.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood made its first-ever presidential endorsement on Sunday when it publicly backed Democratic field leader Clinton.

"I have stood with you throughout my life and certainly throughout my career and I promise you this: As your president, I will always have your back," Clinton told a room full of PP supporters.
