Is Britney Spears Working On An EP?

According to Esjay Jones, some producers have been tapped for a shorter project.

While Britney Spears fans are anxiously awaiting her ninth album, they might have to wait a little longer. Songwriter Esjay Jones hinted on Tuesday that Brit is actually working on an EP.

"#2016 Ecstatic to be working on the @britneyspears #EP with the #DreamTeam @Trey_Vittetoe #ginaschock #britneyspears," the Krewella producer tweeted, name dropping writers Trey Vittetoe (known for his work with Fall Out Boy) and Gina Schock (the drummer for the GoGo's). Vittetoe and Schock have paired up to work on songs for Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.

UPDATE (1/6/16, 12 p.m. ET): The tweet has since been deleted.

There's not much we know about a possible EP, but some fans aren't satisfied by the news, wanting a little more than three to five songs that EPs usually include.

Esjay's work aside, DJ Mustard claims that he has a “super big hit” for Britney, telling Billboard that there's just "too many words" to describe it. Some fans expect that song on Friday.

"ITS BRITNEY BITCH! ?," Jones wrote on Instagram. "Just got #word that we are going to be working with one of my favourite #pop #artists of ALL TIME!!!! #BritneySpears can't wait to get into studio with @subatomik6 @ginaschockofficial and make music with this #history #making and #changing #artist - HUGE #FAN ALERT ??? #Britney #britneyarmy #britneyspearsfan #writers #producers #UMPG #BMG #2016 #newyear #newprojects #project2016"

Spears herself has been hard at work on her new music, teaming up with Justin Tranter -- who, surprise, has worked with Schock and Vittetoe -- for her next project.

In between recording sessions, Britney is still dancing the night away during her Las Vegas residency, which was extended by two years in September.
