Celebrate 'Squad Day' With Kembe X And His New Video

The Chicago rapper drops the visuals for 'Work Week (Squad Day).'

I first got hip to Kembe X in 2012, when he teamed up with Chance the Rapper and Alex Wiley for "Mo Purp." Since then, the Chicago native has steadily released new music, with one-off songs and full projects like Soundtrack II Armageddon and Kembe X EP.

Last month, I had the chance to hear a handful of tracks from Kembe's latest batch, including "Work Week (Squad Day)," which he released with a new music video on Monday (Jan. 4). The track is an indication of the development of his sound on the whole, as he's continued to find his voice and new ways to use it. Plus, the shadowy jam also gives a taste of his ability to sandwich a catchy chorus with deft lyricism in his verses.

The 21-year-old is currently at work on his new mixtape, which is due later this year.
