The Spice Girls Would Be ‘Rude’ Not To Celebrate Their Anniversary In 2016, Says Mel B

Spice turns 20 in 2016. Yeah, you read that correctly.

It's nearly 2016, which means it's almost been 20 years since the Spice Girls dropped Spice on us and gifted us the phrase "really, really, really wanna zigazig ah" to use in our daily conversations. Spice nostalgia is clearly running at an all-time high, as earlier this month, Sporty (aka Melanie Chisolm/Mel C) performed "Too Much" on BBC Radio.

That probably means it's a good time to start talking seriously about a reunion, right? Good thing Scary (aka Melanie Brown/Mel B) is on the job.

"To be serious, it is our 20th anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate," Mel B told a crowd at "Alan Carr's New Year's Specstacular" in the U.K., The Mirror reports. "So hopefully something will be happening pretty soon."

This isn't the first time Scary has hinted at a possible get-together, though. In 2013, she told MTV News, "It will be our 20th year anniversary next year so I’m hoping we do get together and do something. It kind of would be a shame if we didn’t."

The group first got together in 1994 but put out its first record in '96, so a celebration in either 2014 or 2016 would be fitting. But since 2014 came and went without a proper reunion, 2016 is our last hope -- until 2017, when it's the 20th anniversary of "Spice World."

Of course, pesky Spice Girls reunion rumors will continue to toy with emotions as long as Mel B keeps saying things like this, so maybe it's best if we just keep mum and hope it all happens in good time.

And if it doesn't, we'll always have this stellar performance from the 2012 Olympics.
