A Girl Called 911 After An Adorable Trauma With An Elf On A Shelf

The Elf on a Shelf inspired a hilarious emergency call.

Remember the #hero dad who transformed his tiny baby Rockwell into the "Elf on a Shelf" via some creative costuming? Yeah, that dad was awesome. But sadly, not all child-meets-slightly-creepy-elf-toy story end as gingerly as this one.

A 7-year-old girl in New Jersey, ever-mindful of her standing on Santa's naughty-or-nice list, called 911 after accidentally tossing a ball at the Elf on a Shelf toy in her home, causing it to fall to the floor. Touching the elf, the story goes, causes all the Christmas magic to flee the home, so Isabella LaPeruta dialed the authorities.

On the 911 call, Isabella identified herself, then realizes she made a mistake: "Don't come to my house! Don't!" She also said she was trying to call her dad to apologize, not the police.

"You can just say you made a mistake," the operator says. An officer did respond to the call, however, and found Isabella in tears.

But all is well since her brush with elf-induced panic. A new video from NBC shows Santa did indeed visit Isabella on Christmas after all.

Meanwhile, the Elf on a Shelf is still the creepiest Christmas decoration of all time.
