College Students Named, Memorialized And Cremated A Dead Roach

A moment of silence, please.

World, meet Rosie. She's a roach. And she's dead.

Michael Alvard, an anthropology professor at Texas A&M University, found her deceased in a stairwell. After posting a pic of her on Facebook, her memorial -- once a pink paper tombstone -- began growing.

Flowers, a binder clip and bandages were sacrificed. Pennies, a plastic dinosaur and a sign were soon added.

Within two days of Alvard's initial Facebook post, the memorial had significantly grown.

Like, we're not kidding. Look at this thing:

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!

Finally, someone decided to put an end to this nonsense...by giving Rosie her own funeral. According to BuzzFeed News, "around a dozen people attended Rosie’s cremation." Yep, really.

Rosie is likely somewhere up in the skies hanging out with Conrad, the raccoon who was killed on a Toronto street last July. After animal services failed to pick him up, pedestrians began building a memorial around his body.

WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.
