Smash hit "The Boy Is Mine" from '90s R&B stars Brandy and Monica was a certified breakout hit -- it topped the Billboard Hot 100 list for 13 weeks, jumping 22 positions and selling more than two million copies. A response to the 1982 duet "The Girl is Mine" from Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, the Monica/Brandy collaboration became the bestselling track of 1998. Celebrating fifteen years strong, we’ve got the exclusive remix premiere from burgeoning French producer Kulkid.
“I remixed this track because it reminds me of the R&B tracks of my childhood, artists like Mary J. Blige, Puff Daddy, Missy Elliott, Destiny's Child, etc... It's just pure nostalgia,” Kulkid told Hive. The producer was only "nearly 9 years old" when the original track dropped.
Using his signature "Kul House" style -- combining nu-disco and deep house -- Kulkid brings the tempo up and gives the jam a club-ready backbeat, continuing his string of highly acclaimed remix releases. Yup, Kulkid is quickly becoming a household name in the dance/producer community.
