Travis Scott is barely of legal drinking age in the United States, but the hard-working Houston native has already built the foundation for a long and prosperous music career. Scott is best known for his apocalyptic burners “Upper Echelon” and “Quintana,” both featured on his debut EP Owl Pharaoh which was released on T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint. Having chipped in additional production on “New Slaves” and “Guilt Trip,” Travis’ stock as a beat smith took a boost after the release of Yeezus this summer. His distinct blend of crooning verses with snare-addled, synth-charged beats is one of the most interesting strains of hip-hop today.
This potential is what Travis the perfect addition to our ongoing Artist to Watch Live series, which this year has included promising talents like Iggy Azalea, the So So Glos and Gold Fields. (In fact, he recently made the cut for the MTV Jam's Fab Five class of 2013.) Tonight, tune in at 8:00pm ET to watch Scott perform hits from the Owl Pharaoh EP at Bowery Ballroom in front of an energetic New York City crowd.
