The 7 Coolest Things at the 6th Annual Roots Picnic

This weekend, the Roots took over Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia to throw the 6th Annual Roots Picnic music festival. The event boasted two stages, art and food vendors, performances from Joey Bada$$, Solange, Grimes, A-Trak and a headlining set from the Roots and Naughty by Nature. The weather was a muggy 85 degrees, standard fair for the Mid-Atlantic in early June. Despite our sweaty demeanor, we witnessed plenty of cool things at the festival. Here are our favorite seven:

1. Hannibal Burress.
The comedian was spotted early in the day posing with fans at the photobooth.

2. These kids.
The all-ages event brought kids that reminded us of the Children With Swag Tumblr.

3. Patriotic tall boys.
Beer was peddled in 24oz cans and cocktails were sold by the yard.

4. Grimes’ snapback hat.
Upon closer inspection, it looks like a retro Argentina ’94 World Cup cap. Very rare.

5. The tent stage.
The tent stage was a welcome reprieve from the hot Philly sun outside, but back-to-back-to-back sets from Gaslamp Killer, DJ Premier and A-Trak kept everyone moving.
