Jim James Goes Au Naturale at Hangout Music Festival

Are you a dude with extravagant body hair? If so, there's a good chance that a trip to the beach can cause a particular challenge, what with all that sand. Don't fret; Fellow bearded rocker Jim James has some words for Summer 2013's inevitable pilgrimage to the surf.

"I approach it like I approach my hair, let nature take its course," James told MTV News before his Friday afternoon set at Hangout Music Festival 2013. "I don't like to see the imprint of man on my body. I like my body to come from the universe."

Besides generally avoiding some male grooming, James has been on tour for most of 2013, supporting his first solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God. On Friday, day one of the festival, the My Morning Jacket frontman showcased tunes from that record (which we caught a glimpse of earlier this year at SXSW). But James didn't limit his set to solo material; James also dipped into the catalogs of MMJ and Monsters of Folk, his other band.

Hangout Music Festival continues throughout the weekend with a bunch of performances from hairy and non-hairy folks alike, including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stevie Wonder, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kendrick Lamar, Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and many more.
